It's main menu has four options. Cleaner, Issues, Tools and Options.

Cleaner
The First menu Cleaner is the default. Cleaner has two panels, Windows and Applications. The Windows panel is subdivided into sub-sections; Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer, System, Advanced. Whereas Applications panel has the sub-sections; Firefox/Mozilla,applications, Internet, Multimedia, Utilities, Windows.You can check/uncheck any section/subsection/Individual program to clean or to be left out from cleaning process.cleaner can remove cookies, temperory internet files,recently typed urls, most recently used documents log,recycle bin,windows log files and anything that can be safely discarded from your computer.

Registry cleaner (Issues)
The second menu is Issues. It deals with registry integrity and file integrity. Use this tools for registry cleaning purposes. However it does not It serves the function of a separate full-fledged registry cleaning software like RegScrubXP. Before deleting any entries ccleaner asks if you want to create a backup of registry. It is a good idea to keep a backup before making any changes in the registry. It saves the file in your my documents folder with the current date as the filename. If something happens as not expected you can restore the registry to its original state by importing the file in File > Import dialog of the window registry editor regedit (start > run ; type regedit; press OK to open windows registry editor).

Uninstaller and startup programs selector (Tools)
The third menu is Tools. It contains Uninstall and Startup. Uninstall is a handy tool to locate and uninstall any programs that are not visible in the windows add/remove dialog Whereas startup allows you to uncheck entries from themenu (the work done by the windows sysconfig tool).

Secure deletion of cleaner files (options)
The last one Options lets you choose how you want to run ccleaner. The options include Run ccleaner when computer starts, Add Run ccleaner or Open Ccleaner menu option to recycle bin's right click menu, and automatically check for updates. You can choose whatever you want to keep. It also has a Secure delete option, where you can choose from three secure delete methods; 1 pass, 3 passes, 7 passes for all deletion done by the ccleaner. If you choose secure deletion mothod all files deleted by the ccleaner will be done so that they will be difficult to recover after deletion. A good option for you if you have concerns that someone may not dig out your online tracks at a later time. However it only uses secure deletion for the files that it deletes, it means it will not let you delete your other files or documents using secure delete method. If you have a need to delete your other files in a permanent way then you can use another free software for it called simple file shredder meant for the same purpose.

choose the cookies not to delete
Sometimes you need to preserve your online banking cookies and cookies from other trusted sites. This option is helpful for you to retain them. but do not run any other cookie remover tool such as Tools > Internet options > Delete history form internet explorer task bar as it will delete all of your cookies.
Options > Cookies is the place to choose cookies to delete and cookies to keep, the choice which is not available in internet options delete cookies dialog in the Internet Explorer Toools. Internet Explorers delete cookices dialog has no selective deleting method where you could save some cookies and be able to detete others. It seems that this particular requirement has been fulfilled by this utility.

Special Purpose Cleaning during Virus Detection and Removal process
Some times you may require to delete all windows temp files, and other system generated temperory files in order to remove any virus files in it. -Click on Options >Advanced and Uncheck the box in front of "Only delete files in the windows temp folder older than 48 hours" -Check all the boxes in the cleaner window, in windows system explorer, System and Advanced sections, and all sections in applications tab for the purpose of cleaning. By default they are not checked. -Then run cleaner > Analyze > run Cleaner You may experience minor glitches if you are not accustomed to it after a thorough cleaning, but basically it removes usage history of all programs. -Then run Issues > Scan For Issues > Fix Selected Issues to clean the registry ccleaner website http://www.ccleaner.com/
